Privacy policy

ARKAAN has no user account, cloud journal, developer analytics or ARKAAN-operated backend. Tarot content, preferences and journal entries stay in app-private storage on the device. The free production build uses Google UMP and Mobile Ads, while Google Play Billing handles the optional one-time ARKAAN Plus purchase.

This page explains the current data practices of

ARKAAN

01

Controller and scope

The publisher and controller for developer-managed processing is Blacksunset OÜ, Estonian registry code 16513658. Contact: info@blacksunset.ee.

Hariduse põik 1, Kõrveküla alevik, Tartu vald, Tartu maakond, 60512, Estonia.

If you email support, the studio processes your email address and message only to answer the request and meet applicable legal obligations.

02

Data handled by the app

  • Room and DataStore keep reading timestamps, themes, spreads, optional questions and notes, selected cards, orientations, interpretations, reading source and language; daily-card state, favorites, reminder time, card-reversal and haptic choices, onboarding state and a cached Plus entitlement are also stored locally.
  • Google Mobile Ads may automatically collect and share IP address, approximate location derived from it, app and advertising interactions, diagnostic or performance information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Data collected by the SDK is encrypted in transit.
  • Google Play Billing supplies product availability and the localized price and returns purchase state and a technical purchase token used on the device to grant, acknowledge and restore ARKAAN Plus. ARKAAN does not receive payment-card or bank details and sends no purchase data to its own server.
  • ARKAAN does not send tarot questions, selected cards, interpretations, favorites, daily-card notes or journal text to Google advertising services, Google Play or the developer.
03

Permissions

  • Internet and network-state access support Google UMP, Google Mobile Ads and Google Play Billing. Advertising SDK declarations include the Android advertising ID and supported Privacy Sandbox ad-services access; their use is subject to the device and consent settings.
  • Notification permission is optional and requested only when the user enables the daily-card reminder. WorkManager schedules the reminder locally and contributes wake-lock and foreground-service declarations to the merged manifest, but ARKAAN does not run a persistent custom foreground service.
  • The Home-screen widget and optional haptic feedback work through Android system services. ARKAAN does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, broad file storage, calendar, SMS, call-log, health or accessibility permission.
04

Storage and security

  • Tarot content is bundled with the app. Journal entries, daily-card state, favorites and settings are stored in app-private local storage and are not uploaded to Nulleuri, Blacksunset or another ARKAAN backend.
  • Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled. Clearing ARKAAN app data or uninstalling removes the local database, preferences, daily-card state and cached entitlement from that device.
  • JSON journal export and Markdown reading export start only after the user chooses Export and an Android document destination. Exported copies are outside ARKAAN private storage and must be deleted separately from the chosen destination.
05

Third-party services

  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) updates applicable consent information, displays a required consent form and exposes a privacy-options entry point before ARKAAN permits advertising requests.
  • Google Mobile Ads supplies the free production version’s single inline banner and handles advertising delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. ARKAAN uses no interstitial, rewarded or app-open ads.
  • Google Play Billing processes and restores the one-time ARKAAN Plus purchase through the user’s Google Play account. ARKAAN includes no Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, developer analytics, account provider, cloud sync, third-party tarot API or developer backend.
  • Android WorkManager and the notification system create the optional daily reminder locally; the Android AppWidget system updates the daily-card widget. Reminder time and widget content are not sent to an ARKAAN server.
06

Advertising and purchases

  • The one- and three-card spreads, daily card, full card library, favorites, local journal, JSON and Markdown export, reminder and widget are available without ARKAAN Plus. The free production version can show one consent-aware inline banner only after at least two readings have been saved.
  • ARKAAN Plus is a one-time non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. It removes advertising and unlocks the five-card clarity spread, the ten-card Celtic Cross and local journal insights. Google Play displays the applicable localized price and keeps the entitlement with the purchasing Play account.
07

Retention and deletion

  • A journal entry can be edited or deleted in ARKAAN. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes all remaining local app data from the device, while user-created export files must be deleted from their chosen destination separately.
  • The cached Plus state is removed with app data, while the permanent purchase remains associated with the purchasing Google Play account and can be restored. Google retains consent, advertising and purchase information under its own policies.
  • ARKAAN has no developer-managed account or cloud profile to delete. If a user contacts support, the chosen email providers and Blacksunset receive the sender address, message and attachments; support mail is kept only as needed to answer the request and meet applicable legal duties, and deletion can be requested at info@blacksunset.ee.
