Privacy policy

Vaikne has no account, advertising, developer analytics or cloud backend. Saved presets and meditation history stay in app-private storage on the device. Sleep selections are processed only on the device for the active sleep session. Google Play Billing handles the optional one-time Pro purchase.

Controller and scope

The publisher and controller for developer-managed processing is Blacksunset OÜ, Estonian registry code 16513658. Contact: info@blacksunset.ee.

If you email support, the studio processes your email address and message only to answer the request and meet applicable legal obligations.

Data handled by the app

  • Saved timer presets, session timestamps and durations, completion state, local calendar date, timezone offset, selected language, Do Not Disturb preference and cached Pro entitlement are stored in app-private local storage. On supported Android versions, the selected language is also mirrored to Android’s per-app language setting so native timer and sleep notifications use the same language.
  • While a timer is active, its session ID, deadline, interval times, bell and optional preset name are stored locally so Android can restore the user-started timer after a restart or time change. The active marker is cleared on completion or cancellation.
  • Sleep-layer choices and volumes are kept only in memory for the current sleep session and are not uploaded or added to meditation history.

Permissions

  • Notifications, exact alarms, boot recovery, brief alarm wake locks and vibration support the user-started meditation timer. Exact-alarm access is used only for deadlines selected by the user.
  • Foreground-service permissions keep an ongoing timer visibly active and play user-started sleep sounds as media. No session-long wake lock or hidden network work is used.
  • Optional Do Not Disturb policy access is requested only if the user enables Silence during sessions. Vaikne stores the previous interruption mode and restores it when the session ends or is cancelled.
  • The merged Android manifest includes Internet and network-state access for Google Play Billing product availability, purchase and restoration. Vaikne makes no request to a Blacksunset or Nulleuri backend and does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files, calendar, SMS, call log or accessibility access.

Storage and security

  • Android cloud backup is disabled. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes local history, presets, preferences, active-timer state and the cached entitlement.
  • Pro CSV export is created only after the user taps Export and is handed to Android’s share sheet. The user chooses the destination; exported copies must be deleted from that destination separately.

Third-party services

  • Google Play Billing supplies localized product information, processes and restores the optional one-time Pro purchase, and returns the purchase state needed to grant the entitlement. Blacksunset never receives card or bank details.
  • Vaikne includes no advertising SDK, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, developer analytics, account provider, cloud sync or developer backend.

Advertising and purchases

  • The core timer, three recorded bells, fixed intervals, presets, basic statistics and two sleep sounds are free. Vaikne Pro unlocks random intervals, all six sleep sounds, up to three layers, fade-out and CSV export.
  • Vaikne Pro is a restorable one-time non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. Google Play displays the applicable local price; the intended Estonia launch price is €1.99. The app contains no ads.

Retention and deletion

  • Uninstalling or clearing app data removes local data and the cached entitlement. The permanent Pro entitlement remains associated with the purchasing Google Play account and can be restored.
  • If the user chooses to send a support email, the email address, message and attachments are received by the chosen email providers and Blacksunset. Support mail is retained only as needed to answer the request and meet applicable legal duties; deletion can be requested at info@blacksunset.ee.

Your rights and contact

Where data-protection law applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data controlled by the publisher, and object to processing. Most product data described here is held only on your device and can be managed there.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.
