If you email support, the studio processes your email address and message only to answer the request and meet applicable legal obligations.
Data handled by the app
- Local records may include home names and notes, rooms, equipment, checklist instructions, departure profiles, check results, issue priorities, reasons, participant aliases, timestamps, report revisions and photographs. This content is supplied by you; AwayNote does not retrieve contacts or identify people in photos.
- App language, report language, theme and other preferences are stored locally. An unfinished check and a photo awaiting your decision may remain saved so you can continue after closing and reopening the app.
- Photos are processed into new JPEG files; source EXIF metadata, including embedded GPS coordinates, is not copied into the saved image. This does not anonymize visible image content, written notes or names you enter.
- PDF reports can include selected notes, results and photographs. ZIP backups can include home guides, check histories and media. Exports are readable files without password protection or an AwayNote encryption layer; review their contents before sharing or saving to a shared location.
Permissions
- The camera permission is requested when you use in-app photo capture. You may decline it and continue using functions that do not need a photo. AwayNote does not request location, contacts, microphone, notification, Advertising ID or broad photo/storage permissions.
- You can choose a reference photo for a guide through Android’s photo picker. AwayNote receives only the selected image, saves a private copy and does not change the original or automatically add its private photos to your public gallery. Android’s document picker reads or writes only a file or destination you choose. A selected cloud photo or document provider may use its own internet connection and process the file under its own policy. AwayNote itself has no internet permission.
- When you open or share a PDF, Android temporarily grants the receiving app permission to read that file. Opening the share menu does not confirm that a recipient received or read it.
Storage and security
- Home records, settings, photos and generated export files are stored in AwayNote’s app-private databases, files and preferences. The app relies on Android’s app isolation and device security; it does not claim a separate encrypted database.
- Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled for AwayNote app data. Manual ZIP backups are the app’s export and restore route; app preferences are not included. The publisher cannot recover records kept only on your device.
- There is no automatic AwayNote upload, cloud synchronization or remote family access. A file you save outside AwayNote may be backed up or synchronized by the destination service under its own settings.
Third-party services
- AwayNote contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, account or cloud-sync SDK, and sends no home records to a Blacksunset server.
- Google Play independently handles the app’s distribution, downloads, updates and upfront purchase under Google’s terms. Google may make order, sales and payment information available to the publisher through Play Console. AwayNote does not receive card or bank-account details or use a Google Play Billing SDK.
- The app, document provider, email service or person you choose when sharing or seeking support receives the content you send. Their processing is governed by their own terms. Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy; Google Play Terms: https://play.google.com/about/play-terms/
Advertising and purchases
- The first Google Play release is being prepared as a one-time paid download including all homes and features. AwayNote contains no advertisements, subscriptions or in-app purchases. Google Play shows the final local price before purchase.
Retention and deletion
- Records and photos do not automatically expire. Archiving a home hides it from the active home list but keeps its guide and history. Deleting a closed check’s photos removes those app-held photo files while retaining the check record and its metadata. A previous report or external copy is not changed.
- Deleting a home’s check history removes that home’s check records and attempts to remove their associated evidence files. The house guide and app preferences remain. Previously generated private PDF and ZIP files are not automatically removed by this operation.
- Clearing AwayNote’s storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app removes local app data, including generated files still held in the app’s private storage. Original imported ZIP files and copies saved or shared elsewhere are outside this deletion; manage them separately.
- AwayNote has no developer-managed account or cloud profile to delete. The publisher cannot inspect, restore or remotely erase records held only on your device. Google Play manages its own purchase records and refund requests.
- If you email info@blacksunset.ee, Blacksunset and its email providers receive your address, message and attachments to answer your request. You may request deletion of support data at the same address, subject to applicable retention obligations.
Your rights and contact
Where data-protection law applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data controlled by the publisher, and object to processing. Most product data described here is held only on your device and can be managed there.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.
